The La Routo itinerary fulfils the evolving desires of the public for heritage tourism centred around leisurely exploration. It represents the culmination of over a decade of collaboration between the Maison de la transhumance and the ecomuseo della pastorizia. Its primary objective is to establish and manage a transboundary route and network connecting the Crau plain to the Stura valley in Italy. This route, tracing the historic transhumance paths and trails, received official recognition as a long-distance footpath in June 2020 and is designated as the GR®69 La Routo ®.
Functioning as a catalyst for sustainable regional development, La Routo serves as a focal point for various sectors including agriculture, gastronomy, tourism, crafts, textiles, environment, and heritage. It unites these diverse elements under a common theme deeply rooted in the cultural identity of the SUD Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and Piedmont regions.
